about
I recorded this song in march two years ago, mostly using my iPhone. I wrote it for my girlfriend at the time; she never got to hear it before we broke up.
I never intended to release it, but as I started to work on my own cohesive body of work, this untitled piece suddenly fit in somewhere where it previously felt like an out cast compared to everything I had done up until that point. I was working on an instrumental earlier today and I started to realize it had the same exact chord progression as this song. Rather than scrap it all together, I looked at them as..sister songs?
I think I'm a slightly better musician now, but a lot of my songwriting tropes are still in this song. I just pulled it up, remastered it, and I'm putting it here now.
This is just the first step. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what JOYWALK is.
The Arizona band do right by post-hardcore on their immersive new LP, leavening untempered breakdowns with carefully-measured catharsis. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 20, 2018
These tracks are straightforward and concise, never relying on gauzy metaphors to complicate her declarations of love. Bandcamp Album of the Day Dec 20, 2017
Shoegaze, post-rock, black metal, dark ambient: if it's gloomy and surreal, you'll find it on the Arizona outfit's excellent second LP. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 14, 2022
Riding the line between indie pop and psychedelic folk, the songs on the latest from The Madeleines are as gorgeous as they are mysterious. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 22, 2022
This DC shoegaze group work like fog, bringing in ephemeral melodic layers that swirl together to become something surprisingly heavy. Bandcamp New & Notable May 23, 2018
The video for "Theurgist," from True Widow's forthcoming "Avvolgere," is as prismatic & hypnotic as the song it accompanies. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 15, 2016
Folk, electronics, Brazilian, and European sounds blend on Thomas Pappon's latest. Sounds like Air doing Tropicália. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 23, 2014
